FEEDING THE HUNGRY CHILDREN OF GOD

Seeing a critical need for a hot meal program (soup kitchen), St. John's Lutheran Church started serving free lunches in their basement in 1986. The nonprofit, Christ's Table, was formed and was at the church 1986-1991. The need grew and so did the need for space. In 1991, this building, where we are currently located, was purchased. We have continued to grow, all thanks to the support of this amazing community!

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic has altered a lot of things for a lot of nonprofits, we had to cancel our 2020-2023 Canister drives. We usually have one in May and one in October each year. These last few years have definitely been a struggle with added costs and less fundraising. We are hoping we will be able to hold our Canister Drives as usual in the upcoming year.  

We appreciate all of the love, support, and prayers the community has given us and those we serve during this struggle. If it was not for the support of our wonderful community we would not be able to provide these free lunches.

We have been able to continue to feed those who are hungry, even during the pandemic.  In 2022, we served 75,207 meals. Due to the extra food assistance that was given out by Job and Family Services we have seen a slight decrease in those we serve. In 2023, we are seeing a pretty big increase in those coming in for a free lunch. We were especially busy during the summer while school was out. 

By the end of September we have served almost 72,000 meals. So, we are a little busier than last year and still have three more month in the year to go.
